We want to support a diverse range of partners, including:
- NGOs and foundations
- Grassroots projects and activists
- (Academic) research projects
- Social enterprises, impact start-ups and sustainable businesses with demonstrable impact projects
Not eligible:
- Conventional businesses
- Individuals without demonstrable experience in activism
- Greenwashing projects

We support organizations and activists whose work aligns with our strategic pillars:

- Maritime Ecosystem
- Community of Care & Climate Resilience
We fund social initiatives with concrete projects with a duration of up to 12 months.
We use a points-based system where each application can receive up to 62 points. Evaluation is carried out by an internal jury that strives for objectivity and impartiality while keeping our values in mind at all times.
We want to support strategic partnerships in at least one of our systemic pillars:
- Community of Care & Climate Resilience
- Plastic Life Cycle
- Maritime Ecosystem
If your activities align with one of these pillars, we will carefully evaluate your application according to the following criteria:
- Global or local relevance: How does the project connect to global and local needs?
- Impact: Can the project's impact be tracked, quantified, or described qualitatively?
- Value Match: Does the project align with our values and Code of Conduct?
- Scalability and longevity: Does the project create added value that extends beyond the project duration or scope?
- Budget assessment: Are the expected impact and results realistic in relation to the stated budget?
Geographic considerations: While impact is the primary criterion, we favor local initiatives, particularly in the Global South and regions with high plastic leakage such as Southeast Asia and the coastal regions of Africa.
Since 2018, we've been making minimalist bags that carry more than just your stuff. Based in Mainz, Germany, we've grown from a small start-up with a lot of heart into a team of over 70 people. We make bags from recycled materials and fund a clean-up and education program in Indonesia.
We don't claim to have all the answers, but we believe that the future is built in community. Together, we are an ocean.
Selected applicants will receive a grant of €10,000, to be paid out in August 2026.
A kick-off call will take place in July (exact date to follow).
The project period can be up to 12 months, with the following reports expected:
- Progress report: December 2026
- Final report: At the end of your project, but no later than July 2027 (end of Round I).
Language should never be a barrier to receiving the support you deserve.
If English is not your first language, don't worry – please contact us and we will find a way together to make the application process straightforward. Should you be selected for one of the €10,000 grants, all further communication and reporting will be in English (our primary working language).
We take a dual approach:
- Climate Justice: We believe in climate justice. Many of the most vulnerable coastal communities are located in the Global South and are most severely affected by rising ocean temperatures and plastic pollution. We support the people who are fighting for their own environment and livelihoods.
- Global Change: At the same time, we know that solving the crisis requires global change. That's why we also support advocacy work, research, and innovation in the Global North to hold systems accountable on a global level.

Since 2018, we've been turning recycled materials into durable companions. At the same time, we're committed to a culture of care – for example, by funding the clean-up and education program of our partner foundation in Indonesia and working closely with ocean conservation organizations.
