GOT BAG was born from the idea of tackling the growing plastic pollution of the oceans by turning plastic waste into something valuable. Our partner foundation GOT BAG Indonesia runs a clean-up program on Java. Together with local communities, the foundation collects plastic waste in coastal areas, builds waste management structures, and focuses on local environmental education to address pollution at its source. Part of the collected PET waste is processed into RE:PET – the main material for many of our backpacks and bags.

THE JOURNEY OF A ROLLTOP

The GOT BAG Indonesia foundation runs a clean-up program that collects coastal plastic waste from coastal households and environments, rivers, and the ocean.

The PET portion is separated, cleaned, and shredded into flakes before being processed into pellets.

The pellets are blended with certified Ocean Bound Plastic from our recycling partner and spun into yarn.

The recycled yarn is woven into RE:PET – our polyester fabric, which is used as the main material for many GOT BAG products, like the MOON BAG SMALL.
The ROLLTOP 2.0 has an ecological footprint that is approximately 22% lower overall than a hypothetical equivalent backpack made from new, non-recycled plastics. This was the result of an LCA conducted in collaboration with ConClimate GmbH examining the environmental impact of our ROLLTOP 2.0.

We are proud of what we have achieved so far – while fully aware that we are far from perfect and that there is always more to be done on the topic of sustainability. Our goal is to become ever more transparent, so that our community can better understand our complex supply chains and our activities. An honest look at our journey:
• B Corp™ Certification: In 2023 we achieved a B Impact Score of 83.6 (the average is 50.9). This demonstrates that we meet high social and environmental standards. For the 2026 re-certification, we are working on improvements in areas such as climate protection and human rights. We are currently on our way to recertification as a B Corp™.
• Further certifications: GOT BAG is already certified under the Global Recycling Standard (GRS). Our next goal is the certification of individual components of our products to become even more transparent.
Our challenges: Growth also means higher CO₂ emissions. Over 90% of our emissions arise where we produce and transport – in the supply chain.
Our plan: We commit to publishing a comprehensive climate action plan with clear reduction targets in 2026. We also plan lifecycle analyses for additional products to provide scientifically grounded data on our products.
GOT BAG products are currently manufactured in Indonesia and Vietnam.
In Indonesia, our partner foundation GOT BAG Indonesia runs a clean-up program in which local participants collect plastic waste from coastal regions and the ocean and are compensated for doing so. Production in Indonesia helps support the local economy.
We also produce in Vietnam, as manufacturers there have years of experience and specialist expertise in producing high-quality and functional travel equipment.

We want to give every GOT BAG the longest possible life. We guarantee that your GOT BAG can be used for two years without any functional limitations. In addition to our two-year warranty, we offer a spare parts service for all products purchased in our shop. We also take back GOT BAG products and replace them if functionality can no longer be ensured.
We offer a two-year warranty for every GOT BAG order. The RE:SHELL Cabin even comes with a 5-year warranty.
Should you notice a defect during this period, we are here for you. Simply register in our returns portal and submit a request to have your damage assessed. Our Customer Happiness Team will then get in touch with all the next steps. If you did not purchase your product in our online shop, please contact your point of sale directly.
Yes, on popular platforms you will find both written and video product tests for various GOT BAG products.
The tests particularly praise the high-quality craftsmanship, the thoughtful design with many compartments, and the high carrying comfort thanks to padded back panels and adjustable straps. The waterproofness and reliable protection against dust and sand thanks to sealed seams are also highlighted positively.
Occasional points of criticism relate to the sometimes minimalist interior design or a desire for more zippered pockets.
Quite the opposite. Customers consistently highlight the high quality, the durable yet soft material, and the water-resistant or waterproof properties of GOT BAG products in their feedback across various platforms.
Anyone who has purchased a GOT BAG in our online shop within the last two years can make use of the warranty. If you did not purchase your product in our online shop, please contact your point of sale directly.
To use the returns & repair service, please register in our returns portal. Our Customer Happiness Team will check whether a warranty claim exists and then get in touch with all the next steps.
Changed your mind? It happens. You can return unwanted items within 14 days of receipt. Simply register your return with your order number directly through our returns portal. The purchase amount will be refunded to you (minus the return shipping fee) once the return has been received by us.
If you redeemed a GIFT CARD for your order, the purchase amount will be refunded by reactivating it on your GIFT CARD. A cash payout is not possible.
