"OUR MISSION IS TO GIVE A VOICE TO THE THREATS FACING THE WORLD'S OCEANS AND TO HIGHLIGHT ALTERNATIVE COURSES OF ACTION."

The Deutsche Meeresstiftung works with partners from business, politics, research, science and society to preserve the ocean habitat for the benefit of future generations.
To this end, they initiate a wide range of projects.

Using the media and research vessel ALDEBARAN, they undertake research expeditions on topics such as coral bleaching and plastics in waterways. Through their ocean competition, they have been motivating the next generation of scientists to achieve outstanding work for our oceans for 17 years, and they also create educational materials on all kinds of ocean topics for all age groups.
In addition, they develop measuring devices and methods to detect plastic waste and remove it from our oceans. Together with a large number of partners, they are involved in the UN Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development — for example, through a permanent exhibition on the museum ship Cap San Diego in Hamburg and the Ocean Festival in Berlin.
